Anchorage Mushing District Holiday Collection
This year, give the gift of a personalized dog-paw medallion that will be embedded along 4th Avenue. 100% of your donation will be used to preserve the history made along the streets of Anchorage where world famous sled dog races have started for generations. Plus, we are donating a portion of every dog-paw or husky medallion sold through the end of the year (Ending Dec. 31, 2020) to the August Fund, an Alaska-based non-profit organization dedicated to placing canine athletes in loving homes after their racing days are done. Check it out at www.theaugustfund.com
The Anchorage Mushing District is just one of several distinct districts of Anchorage that, together, tell the story of our city’s past that must be preserved as downtown modernizes and grows.
Some features of the historic Anchorage Mushing District include:
- Arch over 4th Avenue, signifying historic sled dog race starting line
- Historical markers and signs highlighting the women, men and dog teams who have contributed to the sport of mushing
- Dog walk of fame featuring medallions dedicated to dogs and people who love and respect the importance of dogs to our Alaska culture and lifestyle
- Lights and banners along 4th Avenue
Sponsor a dog paw medallion TODAY while space is available. The historic Anchorage Mushing District is supported by the Anchorage Mushing District, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. Your contribution is tax deductible. Individual and corporate donations are accepted.
Need another great reason to give? The CARES Act, part of the federal government's pandemic relief program that passed in March, individual taxpayers can take a deduction of up to $300 for cash donations made in 2020 when they file their tax return in the spring.
Every dollar counts!
